What is the difference between the living & the dead? The living lives in worry. You live your life & have your business; Macbeth lives his life & has his business. You have your worries in your life; Macbeth has his ones. Why do we worry? In my conclusion, to live is to worry. The dead sleeps silently & never worries. In the case of Macbeth, he has accomplished his ambition to be the king of Scotland, but his pain has got worse for that treason. He consequently envies Duncan who he has killed (Macbeth Act 3 Scene 2):

Duncan is in his grave;
After life's fitful fever he sleeps well;
Treason has done his worst: nor steel, nor poison,
Malice domestic, foreign levy, nothing,
Can touch him further.
生者と死者の違いは何か。生きている人は悩みながら生きている。人にはそれぞれの人生があり仕事がある。マクベスにはマクベスの人生があり仕事がある。人にはそれぞれ悩みがあり、マクベスにはマクベスの悩みがある。なぜ悩むのか。結論としていうと、生きることは悩むことである。死者は静かに眠り、決して悩まない。マクベスの場合、スコットランド王になる野望を成し遂げたが、そのせいでかえって苦しみが大きくなっている。マクベスは自らの手で殺したダンカンを羨むことになる (『マクベス』第三幕第二場)。
